Embracing Sustainability at Plinths & Pedestals: Our Commitment to a Greener Future

At Plinths and Pedestals, we are deeply committed to protecting the environment while delivering high quality display solutions. Our dedication to sustainability is reflected in every element of our business. Here’s how we’re making a positive impact and why we’re eager to share our efforts with you.

Zero-Waste Approach

We believe in utilising every resource to its fullest. Old or damaged plinths are repurposed into smaller units, shelving, or even glue blocks for future products. Our team embodies our ‘waste not, want not’ philosophy, ensuring that nothing goes to waste.

Eco-Friendly Materials

Minimising our environmental footprint is a priority. We focus on:

  • Water-Based Chemicals: Our paints and glues are water-based, which are low in fumes and better for the environment.
  • Sustainable Alternatives: For specialised products like water-resistant plinths, we choose eco-friendly materials that balance performance with sustainability.

Recycling and Reusing

Cardboard recycling is a key aspect of our sustainability efforts. We recycle our own cardboard and encourage our hire customers to return cardboard corners for reuse. Plastic, polythene, and shrink wrap that cannot be reused are sent to Biffa for recycling. Excess paint is donated to local schools or a local boat model maker, giving it a new lease of life.

Sustainable Transport

Efficient transport is essential for reducing our carbon footprint. We carefully plan our delivery routes to conserve fuel and upgraded our delivery van to a model that meets the latest emissions standards. This approach helps us minimise our environmental impact while ensuring timely and reliable service.

Renewable Energy

We are committed to renewable energy through:

  • Solar Panel Upgrades: Recent upgrades to our solar panels increase our use of natural energy.
  • LED Lighting: Our facility is equipped with LED lighting, reducing both energy consumption and costs.
  • Rechargeable Forklift: Our forklift is rechargeable, producing zero emissions and contributing to a cleaner work environment.

Energy Efficiency

Our commitment to energy efficiency extends to:

  • Paper Reuse: We reuse paper until it’s fully used, then shred and recycle it.
  • Reducing Paper Use: We’re working on further reducing paper usage through software improvements.
  • Machinery Maintenance: Our machinery is carefully maintained—saw blades are sharpened, and equipment is repaired rather than replaced.
  • Repurposing Materials: Old plinths are transformed into new office furniture, reflecting our dedication to reusing materials.

Local Partnerships

Collaboration with our local community is important to us. We work with our neighbours at the Industrial Estate “PIP” to recycle pallets. In return, we share a pizza with them every month, demonstrating how local businesses can work together for a greener future.

Ongoing Improvements

We are continually seeking new ways to enhance our sustainability practices and are proud of the progress we’ve made and remain committed to doing even more. Thank you for supporting us on this journey. Together, we’re making a difference—one plinth at a time!
