We were delighted to have been chosen and commissioned to create a custom designed bespoke display solution by XTX Markets to display Serenity.
Serenity is a firefly-class spaceship which first appeared in the pilot episode of Joss Whedon's Firefly. This series is set in the year 2517 in a star system humanity migrated to after using all of Earth's resources.
While we aren't all sci-fi fans, most of us can relate to and marvel at the sheer commitment and human skill employed in creating such a highly detailed model.
To be trusted by the client to handle such a priceless work of art is something we are very proud of. The team at plinths and pedestals used all of our resources to create the perfect display plinth and acrylic display case befitting a truly magnificent work of art.
The team set to work, taking the initial instruction and brief and continuing onto the design and construction. Throughout the process we ensured the client was informed and happy. We even fixed the faulty electrics on the Firefly.
Displaying a prized subject such as an art piece, museum artefact, sports memorabilia, or even a full-size motorbike isn't as easy as you may think! Get the proportions wrong, and the display will appear unbalanced. Choose an incorrect finish or an unflattering colour, and the display will fail to impress.
One of our spray finish professionals built the perfect spray finish on the base for the Serenity spaceship model. The right choice of paint coupled with an expert and experienced hand on the hi-tech airless spray system, ensured an industry leading spray finish.
Lighting was a huge consideration, not only the position, but the temperature of the lights as they play an essential role in highlighting the centre of the attraction. We carefully thought about materials and fire safety regulations which is crucial for any public display like this.
The ultimate goal was to deliver a display plinth and case that uplifted the artwork. This was clearly achieved for the client and we have gone on to build other display solutions for the team at XTX Markets.
When listening to your brief, the team at Plinths and Pedestals will be able to guide you through the maze of fire grade paint finishes, the right plastics to be used for display cases and back them up with certificates when required. Museum curators have exacting requirements when it comes to bespoke display plinths and cases, incorrect paint finishes, and use of certain acrylics can have a debilatitive effect on ancient artefacts.
The team at Plinths and Pedestals see themselves as artists in their own right. Each stage of the process, from taking an enquiry to manufacturing and then delivering, requires meticulous care and attention bespoke to every single client. For a business to deliver exceptional service and great products consistently, all its colleagues need to share an artists desire to create a body of work to be proud of.
